Development of the Harbourside Lands in North Vancouver is moving forward, with new renderings released by architects Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership.

Phase one of development by Concert Properties will be on Lot D, and include building heights between seven to nine storeys.

In total, the development comprises 470,000 square feet and consists of four parcels.

The developer, Concert Properties, says the overall project is complex and will take 10-12 years to be fully realized.

“It’s a multi-phase project that is ultimately going to land 800,000 feet of residential density and 290,000 feet of commercial density, in frankly, 17 different buildings. So it’s a complex project for sure, and is bound to take some time,” Concert president and CEO Brian McCauley told the North Shore News.

Construction is expected to begin on the first phase next year.

In the design for the first phase on Lot D, the architects at Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership architects “were guided by a desire to preserve views of the water and mountains through the development, and to ensure pedestrian permeability.”

The buildings along Harbourside Drive, adjacent to the industrial area, will have a more industrial and loft nature to their design.

Plans for the development of the Harbourside Lands in North Vancouver have been in the works for years, and Concert’s proposal to create a mixed-use neighbourhood on the site was approved in 2014 through an OCP amendment.

Development work will see the relocation of an eagle’s nest on the property, as reported by the North Shore News.
