Concord Quantum Park planned at former Molson Brewery

We are learning more about Concord Pacific’s plans for the former Molson Brewery site next to the Burrard Street Bridge in Vancouver — dubbed Quantum Park.

In a marketing video for their upcoming Concord Metrotown development, which will include the tallest residential tower in B.C., Concord Pacific teases the future redevelopment of the former brewery.

The video shows a preliminary concept for the site, with a mixed-use office building geared at technology companies on the Burrard Street frontage, and residential towers in behind.

A marketing brochure obtained by urbanYVR reveals more details about Concord Pacific’s upcoming Quantum Park project:

Project size: 1,800,000 square feet
Office space: 300,000 square feet (extra tall ceiling heights)
Residential: 3,000 homes in towers between 15-25 storeys
Retail: Ground-floor retail and showroom space

“Quantum Park will be a centre for local and global technology companies to thrive, collaborate and innovate,” according to the marketing brochure from Concord Pacific.

Amenities:

  • “World-class” health club
  • Co-working spaces
  • EV charging capability in all parking stalls
  • Automated touch-less car wash facility
  • Three-acre green roof
  • Sphere-like rooftop glass pavilions for co-working and meetings

A website, quantumpark.ca, has been created for the project, however, it is not yet accessible to the public.

Concord Pacific bought the Molson Brewery site in 2016 for $185 million, and said at the time it intends to create a mixed-use, high-tech hub on the property.

The property is zoned industrial and is one of the last protected industrial-zoned sites in Metro Vancouver, with the city stating numerous times that it’s committed to preserving the industrial nature of the site.

No rezoning or development application has been filed yet for the property, and the concept is presumed to be preliminary and subject to change.

The future development is adjacent to the Sen̓áḵw Lands — an upcoming project by the Squamish Nation, in partnership with Westbank. It will include up to 6.000 purpose-built rental units, strata housing and retail in 11 towers, with the tallest expected to be 56 storeys.
