New Musette Caffé on Burrard Street now open

The long-awaited reopening of Musette Caffé’s new location on Burrard Street was worth the wait.

Open for less than a week, the cycling-themed cafe is already attracting a steady clientele, if a busy Sunday afternoon is any indication.

The space has high ceilings, a variety of different seating options and areas, and free wi-fi. But the most noteworthy aspect of the space is the cycling memorabilia displayed throughout — everything from race jerseys, caps, and even bicycles suspended from the ceiling. It seems like it would be a nightmare to dust, but it looks great and lends the cafe a vibrant atmosphere.

Just outside the cafe is the newly upgraded bike lane on Burrard Street, connecting to the Burrard Street bridge, which is currently under construction and scheduled to complete in late 2017. This is going to be a popular stop for commuter cyclists, myself included in warmer months.

The cafe is strong and piping hot, and serves beans from Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters. There are a variety of pastries, banana breads, wraps, sandwiches and salads. The Pork Belly Breakfast sandwich looked particularly good, but it will have to wait for a morning visit.

Service is excellent and attentive, and tables seem to be cleared and cleaned promptly. This is the third location for the cafe, it was previously across the street in a temporary location now being redeveloped as Burrard Place, and in Chinatown before that.

Musette Caffé is open everyday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. As well as great coffee and food, they also offer apparel, cycling clinics and group rides. More info at musettecaffe.com
