Popular Yaletown Starbucks will close permanently this Friday

The Starbucks at Yaletown Park at Hamilton and Nelson will close permanently on Friday.

The location is a popular coffee shop for residents in Yaletown, and has a large, elevated patio — a favourite of the area’s many dog owners.

Staff at the Yaletown location say they weren’t told why the store was being shuttered, but that they would be transferred to nearby locations including Seymour Street (Metropolitan Towers) and a recently renovated Starbucks at Mainland and Davie.

The store will officially close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2019.

This is the second downtown Starbucks location to close this year — the store at Keefer and Main in Chinatown unexpectedly shut its doors a few months ago, reportedly due to difficulties in the neighbourhood. It opened in 2015.
