Coast Plaza Hotel in Vancouver’s West End to become rental apartments

The aging Coast Plaza Hotel on Denman Street in Vancouver’s West End will be transformed next year into rental apartments and a smaller boutique hotel on the lower floors.

The existing hotel tower will be renovated into 316 “secured market rental” units once the hotel leaves the site at the end of 2017.

The Comox Street Long Bar and Grill, Denman Fitness, and the convention space on the top of the podium will be transformed into a new 68-room boutique hotel. The branding for the new hotel has not yet been announced.

But NoFrills shoppers, don’t despair. No changes will be made to the retail spaces in the Denman Place Mall.
