Construction on tallest residential tower in Western Canada set to begin

Construction on Onni’s three-tower Gilmore Place development in Burnaby is about to begin, with the site at Lougheed Highway and Gilmore Street cleared.

The first phase of the development will include three towers of 43, 51 and 64 storeys, the last being the tallest residential tower in Western Canada.

There will be 1,550 units across the three towers, with occupancy expected in late 2023.

The development also includes half-a-million square feet of retail space, and one million square feet of office space. Eventually there will be ten towers as part of the development surrounding the Gilmore SkyTrain station.

A sixth floor podium will connect the three towers and include 75,000 sq ft. of amenity space with outdoor and indoor pools, dog walk, bowling alley, karaoke room, outdoor play area, BBQ facility, lounge, movie theatre, guest suites and even a bocce court.

There will also be a lounge on the 35th floor of one of the towers, accessible to all residents.

IBI Group are the architects on the project.
