Rendition submits DP for mixed use industrial/office building

Rendition Developments plans to develop a mid-century inspired, post-pandemic friendly office and industrial building in Mt. Pleasant.

A new development by Polygon Homes with 267 market residential units is proposed across from the UBC Farm at Wesbrook Village.

“The Residences at Nobel Park” will consist of a 14-storey tower, a five-storey low-rise building and two rows of townhouses fronting on Ross Drive and the adjacent greenway.

The tower has a large floor plate and is broken into two volumes, allowing daylight into the building’s core. The design gives the impression of two tower forms, but it’s one building. It will consist of predominately two and three bedroom units, as well as five penthouse suites. Views over the UBC Farm and the Pacific Ocean should be spectacular.

The low-rise building will consist of one and two-bedroom units, designed around a central corridor. It will be of concrete construction, something that is unusual for a five-storey building. The townhouses will be either three or four bedrooms.

Concrete on the tower and low rise will be painted a bright off-white colour, while metal panelling in varied shades of green will “reference the greens of the adjacent forest trees,” according to the developer’s submission.

Dark grey spandrel glazing will help provide contrast and definition to the tower’s two volumes.

Privacy screens on the low-rise building will be a warm wood colour, consistent with the townhomes which will also be clad in a dark, high-fired brick.

The development was designed by Francl Architecture.
