PortLiving plans 61 homes for Mount Pleasant corner

PortLiving, Caulfield Rock and Hudson are planning 61 condominium homes at East Broadway and Guelph in Mount Pleasant, on the site of a former service station.

The four-storey, mixed-use building, designed by Formosis Architecture, will also include ground floor commercial units and two levels of underground parking. A two-level restaurant is envisioned for the ground floor, and an office space is planned fronting onto the laneway.

Construction of the building will make use of traditional wood framing and cross-laminated timber (CLT), with exposed CLT ceilings in the homes, wood accents in the lobby and living spaces, and a hybrid wood cladding on the façade.

There will be a mix of unit sizes, including studio units and larger family-sized apartments on the corners, as well as on the upper levels. Some homes will include rooftop decks.

PortLiving is clearly fan of this stretch of East Broadway, with its Midtown series of residential buildings, including the latest — Midtown Four at East Broadway and Carolina.

The developer is also behind Main Street Arts 2, an upcoming six-storey, mixed-use building at East 4th and Main Street, also designed by Formosis Architecture.
