New park slated for Main and 7th in Vancouver

The City of Vancouver is planning a new park at East 7th Avenue and Main Street and seeking public input on the park’s design.

The future park is adjacent to a nine-storey, affordable housing building, currently under construction and spearheaded by the city’s affordable housing agency, VAHA, and Catalyst Community Developments Society. It will include 145 rental apartments.

The new park will be on the southern portion of the property, as seen in the rendering above.

The affordable rental building should be complete in early 2021, with construction on the new park scheduled to begin immediately after, targeting a 2022 grand opening.

The building will include a restaurant or café fronting onto the future park. Apart from that, the new park is blank slate, and seeking public input.
