Micro unit rentals slated for West Van near Park Royal

West Vancouver could be getting its first micro-unit rental apartments if a proposal is approved.

The district has received a redevelopment proposal for  671, 685, 693 Clyde Avenue and 694 Duchess Avenue (just north of Park Royal Shopping Centre), and adjacent to Taylor Way, to create new Park Royal rental apartments.

The micro-unit, Park Royal rental apartment building would be six storeys with an outdoor, rooftop amenity level, and include 199 market rental units.

The micro units would range from 350-440 square feet.

The U-shaped building would include an inner courtyard buffered from the traffic noise of Taylor Way, and the construction would also make use of reclaimed wood from the original 1950s Park Royal North buildout.

The development proposal will go before district council on Oct. 4, 2021. Architects are DA Architects + Planners.
